It only took a literal century, but stunt performers are finally getting their own Oscar category. You know, the people who get set on fire, flung off buildings, and hit by speeding cars for our entertainment? Yeah—those legends.
The Academy just announced that “Achievement in Stunt Design” will officially be part of the Oscars… starting in 2028. (Because sure, what’s another three years after a hundred?) Either way, it’s a long-overdue nod to the folks who’ve made some of the best moments in action films possible.
